Joomla!
Open-source CMS software is the optimal choice in our economy, especially for small businesses. While not tailored to a specific archetype, a CMS like this gives designers the option to produce a vast array of unique sites.
These sites -sans copy- were done from the ground up with Joomla!, using SQL, Unix and FTP clients to achieve proper permissions and install appropriate addons (such as slideshows, music players and the like).
PSD Conversions
Often sites are drawn up graphically with the intention of conversion to a working model. Photoshop is commonly used for this purpose, and it’s not odd to receive files comprised of dozens of layers with a desire to convert it to XHTML and CSS.
This is an example where such a conversion took place, as I was provided the PSD from a third party to convert.

Using the same XHTML, these skins show how CSS can be used to completely change the feel of organized events, profiles and the like while keeping the layout similar. However, some minor changes were made to the layout with navigation in the CSS to better streamline the user’s experience.
These skins were created using Photoshop and Dreamweaver, in a no-frills environment with the CMS being completely custom. Everything was written by hand without the use of a WYSIWYG editor.
For now, larger versions can be viewed reliably using the magnify button (
) when creating an event. Should this become unreliable, they will be hosted here.
